ATTENTION CUSTOMERS,                                              04/29/2020

          On Monday May 4, 2020, our office will be open to the public.  As the COVID-19 restrictions relax, please continue to maintain the social distancing requirement of 6 feet.  Also, if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, please self-quarantine.  Spring is also heavy pollen season, so we ask that you please cover your coughing and sneezing.  Please remain behind the sneeze guard at all times.

THE RECORDER WILL NO LONGER BE TAKING MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATIONS TO FARMINGTON CORRECTIONAL CENTER (FCC) IN FARMINGTON, MISSOURI OR TO EASTERN RECEPTION DIAGNOSTIC CORRECTIONAL CENTER (ERDCC) IN BONNE TERRE, MISSOURI.

OUR OFFICE WILL BE IMPLEMENTING THE “AFFIDAVIT OF ABSENT APPLICANT” PROCESS.  THE PARTY THAT IS “NOT ABSENT” WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCESSING THE AFFIDAVIT WHICH IS LOCATED BELOW UNDER THE ABSENT APPLICANT MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATION TAB FOR THE “ABSENT” PARTY AND FOR PRESENTING THE NOTARIZED DOCUMENTS AND PAYMENT TO OUR OFFICE FOR THE MARRIAGE LICENSE TO BE ISSUED.  THE FEE WILL BE $51.00 CASH OR MONEY ORDER OR $53.00 DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD.

To Apply for a Marriage License

You can now fill out all of your application information online before coming to our office.  Please see the attached link to begin the application process.

Once you have filled out and saved your information you should receive email verification.  Please bring that in to our office to complete the application process and pick up your license.

We will need both parties to appear with photo ID and the application fee in order to sign your application and pick up your license. A blood test is not needed and a waiting period is not required. Original signatures are required from both parties. If one party is not a U.S. citizen, a valid government issued ID is needed. The license must be used within 30 days of being issued. The license must be returned to our office within 15 days of being used. If for any reason the license is not used, please return the license to the office of the Recorder of Deeds.

ALL MARRIAGE LICENSES ISSUED IN OUR OFFICE MUST BE USED IN THE STATE OF MISSOURI.

New Marriage Law Requirements

Fees:

License $51.00 CASH OR DEBIT/CREDIT with a minimum $2.00 convenience fee. Fee to be paid at the time of application.

Underage Applicant $1.00 additional fee for each.

Certified Copy of Marriage License $9.00 – A certified copy of marriage license is as good as your original.  Used for any legal purpose including renewing driver’s license and social security.

Your Military Discharge should be brought to the Recorder of Deeds of the county you live in to be recorded. Be sure to have Member 1 and Member 4 Forms for recording. (The Member # should be at the bottom right hand corner of your document.)

There is no fee for recording your Military Discharge. There is no fee for providing a veteran with a copy of his/her Discharge. If original recorded Discharge is lost, a certified copy can be obtained in our office.

Recorded Discharges and the Index Books for Discharges are not available to the public for on-site inspection or copy purchase.

To request a copy of a Discharge, a RAM 59.480 form must be filled out, signed by the requestor and notarized. This form can be printed from this site, filled out and mailed in or you may come to our office to request a copy. Download form here: Request for Military Discharge Papers

Uniform Commercial Codes (UCC’S) that include real estate are still filed at county level.  UCC’s that do not include real estate must be sent to the Secretary of State.
