How Do I File a Police Report?
If you are in the city limits of any municipality when a crime occurs, you must file a report with the municipal police. If you are in an unincorporated area of St. Francois County, you must file a report with the sheriff’s office.
When filing a police report, here are a few things that police and prosecutors will need to know for a successful investigation and case:
What happened?
When did it happen?
Where did it happen?
Do you know who may have committed the offense?
Unique identifiers of property (such as serial numbers)
Bring any evidence you have, such as bank statements, video, etc.
